Terms of Service

Last updated: October 2026

About these terms

These terms cover the IT consulting and support services provided by IRLit, owned and operated by Matt Yule, serving Appleton, WI and the Fox Valley. By requesting or using the services, you agree to these terms.

Services

Services are described on the Services & Pricing page. For project work, the written quote I provide before work begins describes the scope and the price, and that quote governs the engagement. Anything outside the agreed scope is a change order that we agree to in writing first.

Pricing and payment

  • On-demand support is $85/hr remote and $110/hr on-site, with a 1-hour minimum. After the first hour, time is billed in 15-minute increments.
  • After-hours work is billed at 1.5× the standard rate.
  • Travel is free within 15 miles of Appleton; beyond that, any travel cost is stated before I head out.
  • Flat-rate and project work is covered by a written quote before work begins.
  • I accept card, ACH transfer, and check. Monthly plans may be set up on recurring card or ACH billing with net terms.
  • Invoices are due per the terms stated on the invoice. Late payments may pause service.

Remote access consent

For remote support, you agree that Matt may access your computer during a watched support session to diagnose and fix the problem. You can watch the session on your screen, the session ends when we're done, and no permanent access is kept. You can end a remote session at any time.

Your responsibility — back up first

Before any work that could affect your data, back up your important files, or ask me to back them up for you as part of the job. I take care, but IT work can carry risk, and a current backup is your safety net.

Limitation of liability

Services are provided on a best-effort basis by a single professional. To the fullest extent allowed by law, IRLit and Matt Yule are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost data, lost revenue, or business interruption. Total liability for any engagement is limited to the amount you paid for that specific service. IRLit does not provide formal security audits or compliance certification (such as HIPAA or PCI), and no service here should be treated as a substitute for those.

If the problem isn't fixed

If I can't fix the problem or give you a clear path forward, you don't pay for that work. If a fix doesn't hold, let me know and I'll make it right at no extra charge for the same issue within a reasonable window.

Monthly managed plans

Monthly plans are month-to-month. There is no long contract and no early-termination fee. You can cancel with 30 days' notice. Plan pricing covers the services listed for that plan; work outside the plan scope is billed separately at the rates on the Services page, with a quote first for project work.

Cancellation

To cancel a monthly plan, notify me in writing (email is fine) at least 30 days before your next billing date. I'll wrap up open items, hand off any documentation, and stop billing. For one-time work, you can cancel before work starts at no cost; work already performed is billed for the time or scope completed.

Scheduling and travel

Appointments are scheduled by mutual agreement. I'll do my best to meet requested times, but availability isn't guaranteed. IRLit does not provide 24×7 emergency response.

Changes to these terms

If I update these terms, I'll change the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted on the site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin.
